Twice the rate, plus allowing for multi lanes of transfer to be in the Gb/s

Now my motherboard bought only in February is seriously out of date, hahaha

Today's the 18th. In three days my top spec i7 7700 will be old, since Intel will bring it their new Coffee Lake. Ho hum.

I'm still on my Ivy Bridge i7-3770K from early 2013.

I've definitely had my money's worth so far. ;)

My first gen i7 will soon be used for a Linux flavoured distro pc. I can't can see it being used for anything with Windows because it would have software that needs activating, and why not have a Linux distro instead of boring Windows

Sort of a damp squib. The great i8 announcement today is that the i7 gets a tweak but the real i8s come out later. They do claim a speed increase of 40% but without a real architectural change...
All i5s and i7s will be 4 core.

I've been with TT's broadband since '96 when it was AOL and TT took over later. Never seen a reason to change. Line drops are, without jinxing myself, once a year at most. My mobile is with EE.

If only I'd known...
Intel's new Coffee Lake-S is not just an iterative upgrade over Kaby Lake. And I rebuilt my rig last winter bssed around a 7700.
