Worth a GPU upgrade?

If it's not painfully obvious (apologies) I'll start by admitting I haven't much of a clue here..

I've a system that's showing it's age these days with the newer games & I'm thinking that if I don't get myself a new GPU soon I probably won't for a very long time.
I'd be very grateful if folk could advise on whether they think Nvidia's recent GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB would be a sensible purchase/good upgrade? or would I be better of upgrading Cpu/Ram, HDD etc.. can't do all I'm afraid.

I don't think it had fully dawned upon me how much of a sorry state of affairs the current unavailability of our new GPU's is atm (or the truly ludicrous prices that we are expected to pay for any that can be found)  IT HAS NOW! .. C'est la vie, consoles/bit of emulation back to the rescue I guess.

I always go with mid stream GPU's so I couldn't even justify it to myself. Keasy is into higher end stuff, but the question might be can you actually get hold of one?

I can't see your 8700k holding a 3060ti back tbh.
With decent cooling you should be able to hit 4.7 to 5g on that cpu.

The 3060ti is going to be better than a 2070 super, so a sizeable upgrade.

It depends on what res you're gaming at. At 1080p your CPU is going to be pushing the frames, at 2k and up you're using the gfx card. I used my last 1070 at 2k and it did quite well.

Personally at 1080p I'd stick with your current set up, though the 3060 did offer RT and DLSS etc.
