I keep getting a lot of buffering when watching foreign football channels on TV. My router is a Sky and my desktop is connectd by ethernet cable. There are numerous wifi boosters to pick from so I am looking for one to easily set up. Will my desktop not having a wifi connection mean I can't install a booster for a better experience please?

99.9% likely that it's not your fault and more a bandwidth fault from the source due to the amount of people accessing these streams.

Nothing you can really do about it on that front I'm afraid.
All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you.

If it's IPTV you'll need a better source, usually paid for. Everyone accesses the free ones, including the broadcasters (like Sky), and it has an impact.

Looking through some recent stuff on one a site I use, it seems that the likes of $ky go full pelt active to disrupt the football feeds when the new season starts and they recommend using a VPN.
As your internet connection is with $ky it's not beyond the bounds of reason that they could also use deep packet inspection to determine if you are watching an IPTV feed of their stuff.

Worth noting some VPN have limited bandwidth as well so you could end up with buffering due to that too.
All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you.
