Loud Wars
Been happening since the mid-60s
To the point, it's all one big mess of a loud track with no timbre or subtlety, or at least it's lost in the production.
This, however.....
-
TBH the subtlety is lost on the YT but it's still not too bad.
-
Oh , I can play this game .

Ewarty haircut Band. Actually it was at his house I first heard this.
Another good album from them. (More mature )
-
Just something wrong here, probably because they don’t sing and I think they lose it a bit towards the end but it is live ..Anyways I quite like them, just wish they would add a singer, they are just not quite there yet. Bass player is awesome though, if you listen to the rest of their tracks.
-
What the fuck are these guys on ! Can can hear loads and loads of different bands in here, there influences are very wide ranging.
It’s awesome.

Ewarty haircut band! :cheesy:

I first met met Keasy at Liz Martins over this particular album in 1984 (?), Keasy (the Bairn as he was at the time) accused me of running out the batteries on his Walkman listening to this album and kicked right off.
It wisnae me, it was Big Meggy who flattened them, but we were all stoned out of our nuts at the time.
It's weird how friendships are bonded.
[Hap probably remembers a different tune. Bah Bah Black Sheep and trying to set fire to Beakers chair. 😂 He was talking about going camping at the Scouts Dam outside metalwork one day and I piped up that I'd go. First time I ever got stoned...brilliant weekend!] 😀😎
-
That disagreement still continues :cheesy:
It was Wishbone Ash that YOU flattened my batteries listening to. :cheesy:
-
Fuck all to do with me man.
The fact that I was listening to Brothers in Arms at the time means it obvs that I wasn't listening to Wishbone Ash! It was Henry.
Percyphone
-That's not as bad a track as I thought it would be-
-
Nah man, you were so stoned you don't remember it clearly.
I didn't have Brother's in Arms on tape it Wishbone Ash, you were lying underneath the window when you asked me to listen to it and Big Henry wasn't even there, it was John McCann you were there with.
-
It was in Liz's flat, I was there with Jengis but Meggy was already there and someone fired Brothers in Arms on the record player.
It was the first time I'd heard it and I had a bit of a whitey on the floor in front of the couch (the room was pretty full), but Meggy flattened your fuckin batteries...he was the cunt lying on the floor to your left, I was whiteying on your right...if you remember correctly. 🤣
-edt- Still enjoying that Wishbone Ash playlist though
First time I've heard it.. 🤔
-
Was Brothers in arms playing, wasn't it Alchemy?
Right band, wrong album, hazy memories.
Was Richard Nelson not there too, just to your left?
-
Definitely BiA, it was the first time I'd heard it. 😎
Richard might have been there, it wouldn't surprise me. 😁
-
I think that shitty wee AMSTRAD music center of Oor Liz's introduced a lot of people to a lot of new music.
-
M83 are the most underrated band in recent times.
AFAIAC
Hurry Up We're Dreaming is a dynamic of volume, influence, and style.
My 'funeral' track is on the same album. I know that's a bit narcissist but you really gotta cut a guy some slack when it comes to him wanting a song to be heard whence he's gone! :cheesy:
-
-
I'd totally forgot about that. And now I've just been transferred back in time to being a young 23 yr old man working in the local hospital, living in the nurses' home and just working, getting out my tits and shagging.
I wonder if Hope knew how fucking gorgeous she was and had the emotive voice to go with it. No mother would have objected to her son bringing her home, no son would have then not screwed her rotten afterward. :cheesy:
What a babe.

Cool AF. :afro:

One for splinter.

I’m going for a fag. I dance like this now. I think I have something wrong with my nervous system that gives me muscle spasms.

Alexander Robotnik look a hell of a lot like Bill Drummond. 😉

Can I have an ashtray?

Don't know why I think of Bombay BC as a Hipster band but, I just do.
Well, it doesn't matter really cause this track is well gud! I thunk.
BTW even the standard mp3 stream sounds better than the YT vers
Same goes for this.
-
In fact, the Future Islands track just sounds like an amalgamated mess in comparison to even the Spotify stream.
Go seek a decent version to really hear it. :afro:
-
Watch out here comes Miley Cyrus!
I'm now on Season (series) 4 of Preacher. Even though this track does not feature anywhere in the show...it bloody well should! :cheesy:

I know, the most appropriately named music act ever. It's a great number though, I love it. There's no doubt in my mind when I listen to it that Jesus And Mary Chain were heavily influenced by it and Spacemen 3 and indirectly MGMT also.
-
A little pick up the other day.

Do we know a Norman ?

And another on cd.

They need to clean this feckin Classic LP, it should sound a lot crisper than this, like it does on mine .
The original lp knocks shit out of the cd version in my opinion, the cd version is just a bit too clean and polished for my liking.
-
Not that i have a turntable but i do use a lot of full res flac rips and even then compared to some CD releases there's that difference in organic sound and feel.
Paul Simon's Graceland being very notable. The CD is just to loud when it peaks where as the LP ( or my original LP flac) sounds lovely and defined even at the loudest parts. And don't get me started on the so called 'remastered' version
-
Git in ya wee Scottish bastards!
The best E comes from Glasgow, as does it's inspiration. :afro:

I can’t remember who bought this album off me before I left Jockland but I’m enjoying it again after many years of looking for it. My Mrs things it’s weird music, but she things all my music is weird anyway.

Rod who ! Here’s Frankie.

Peter H?
He had it on tape.
It's a great album. Wasn't Steve Hillage involved with them?

Yeh, Peter had quite a lot of my Lps, he must of transferred it from the album to tape.

I think they had collaborations with Gong at some time when Steve Hillage was in it.

Always liked that song it’s a classic. For some reason I always thought that Prince sung it but clearly he didn’t.

Back to the Here and Now...
always loved that track, prob my fave on the album. It's got that punk edge going on!

From the album Once. :lipsrsealed: Ooooh.
Title song from the album Once

Drop a tab

Still think that's one of the best acoustic, single singer melodies I've ever heard.
-
I haven't been able to get this track out my head all day.
So i had to seek it out...

I really love M83's work, one of the most undersung artists there's ever been.
But, even I struggled to get into his 2016 album 'Junk' with its increasingly poppy vibe. Then, when you get into Gonzalez's music you're getting into a mix of many styles, genres, and decades specific of influence.
Never the less as much as I love his music it reeeeeealy took me a long time to get into 'Junk'.
It's easy to forget that Gonzalez has his pick of who he works with and who produces his work.
This track was produced by and features 'Beck'.
