Sky has a new film  on every day. I download those that might be watchable (two or three a week) but I end up deleting most. Yesterday's was Coco. Oscar winning, apparently. Not in my house. Great graphics but predictable story. It got 20 minutes of my time.

I watched Justice League again instead. Quite enjoyed it. #2 is being cast just now.

Ebay is gradually shoving aside private sellers. They want companies and bigger unit sales because it's less hassle for them. They're certainly making it more difficult for the ordinary guy to dispose of an unwanted item.

I watched the last episode of S6 of Elementary. Different. For a while most thought the series would finish with this but no, S7 will be aired in the UK next Spring. The two of them were photographed filming a scene in Trafalgar Square.

No idea. I believe that there are main and secondary beta testers. What they needed so this didn't happen was a gang of normal people on normal rigs doing normal stuff to test it. This problem would have popped up very quickly.
The thing is that the beta testers reinstall Windows often, so rather than having to swap data back and forth they swap My Docs, etc, to their D: drive, installing on C: of course. The update didn't affect the D: drive so it wasn't spotted.

I'm not bothered about a 4K monitor (a new 4K telly maybe), just a step up in resolution. Perhaps. I'm only thinking out loud, as it were. I still much prefer 1920x1200 compared to 1920x1080.

No, they released it all right, except it wasn't all right if you remember my posts on the old forum. There was a bug that deleted some people's My Documents folder under particular circumstances that beta testers didn't discover because they usually don't use My Documents.
MS withdrew the update and have fixed the bug.
It's back with the beta testers and I imagine it'll be released again when they've approved it.

I got a note on TalkTalk's tech forum that they've fixed my ping, and in all honesty tonight it's been very good, back to normal. I'll try again tomorrow before I declare their efforts successful. I knew it wasn't a contention issue. It couldn't have been. No idea what it was though I'm still inclined to blame the gas board when they relaid the main pipe up the road during the summer.

Over the last  couple of weeks I've watched a handful of Last of the Summer Wine. It began with the last few episodes of the whole series before it ended, and began again a generation ago with S1/Ep1. What a difference. The newer programmes were dreamily gentle with nothing much said and mostly three ancient guys wandering about. The start, however, was much sharper. What Cleggy said about his ex-wife would never have been allowed these days! Great fun.
I used to love it back then, but of course everything runs its course, like The Simpsons, which I haven't watched regularly for years.

An atheist was seated next to a little girl on an airplane and he turned to her and said, “Do you want to talk? Flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.”

The little girl, who had just started to read her book, replied to the total stranger, “What would you want to talk about?”

“Oh, I don’t know,” said the atheist. “How about why there is no God, or no Heaven or Hell, or no life after death?” as he smiled smugly.

“Okay,” she said. “Those could be interesting topics but let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff – grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, but a horse produces clumps. Why do you suppose that is?”

The atheist, visibly surprised by the little girl’s intelligence, thinks about it and says, “Hmmm, I have no idea.”
To which the little girl replies, “Do you really feel qualified to discuss God, Heaven and Hell, or life after death, when you don’t know shit?”

I didn't. I meant the next resolution up from my 1920x1200. The monitor is a good ten years old. Still working fine mind, a Dell.

I suspect this will quietly disappear. Whoever invented it was likely a Tory 19yo with a bow-tie who has never been in a chemists.

The thing that would push me to upgrade from my GTX 970 is a 1440 monitor. I am considering that.

True enough. This is what the Health Secretary was saying about the Greens' call to reduce beef consumption. She said she'd be accused of huge moves towards a nanny state, which is why she didn't support it. The Greens were 'disappointed'.

PIP was always a system to save money and was prompted by the vigorous media reports of fraud, not all of which were false, of course, but that reassessment is downright Stalinist. He'd have been proud of them. So would Putin.

Currently watching Ep5 of The Discovery of Witches. It's very much not for teens. A touch slow maybe. The sets/locations are great. Acting is good.

I read that. One of the weaknesses of the EU. But if you're rich you can do almost anything.

Ham shank makes the best broth. Meat's a bit salty, but my mum's broth was amazing.

Kindig Customs, on Discovery, featured 1967 Chevvy Nova 2. Well, at least its body. Everything else was changed.
You couldn't tell from the outside with its superb paint job, that under the bonnet was a custom 468ci (10+ litres) big block V8 that dynoed at 2200bhp, and with nitro and specified tuning would produce 4000+bhp. Undriveable, they acknowledged. Noisy bugger. The rear wheels were a good foot wide. Must have cost $100k. Took 7 years to finalise and finish.
Those guys produce some first rate custom work. Even the exhaust was a work of art.
