When I upgraded to Ryzen in September, I didn't have much luck with activating Windows, mainly because I upgraded Adri's son's PC with my old mobo and FX8320. That activation went ok, since it's tied to the hardware, as far as I know.
Anyway, I tried to release activation from another activated PC in order to transfer it over to the new build, but that didn't work, so I ran it non activated for a few months and just put up with the nagging.
Yesterday, and for embarrassing reasons which I'll divulge at another time, I had to format and clean install. This time, I used the product key from a legit Windows 8 iso I still have and it was accepted, thankfully.
Anyway, that took the sting out of the complete disaster that occurred yesterday morning.

The OEM codes from Amazon at around £5 are legit and work a treat, in case you ever get stuck.
(I think this Pro version I'm using came it at £4.70 and the code arrived within 20 minutes)

I was a bit sceptical tbh...but thought I'd chance it for a fiver.
