Well done Wooster. Much appreciated.
This is going to take some getting used to. Sorry to lose the old forum since there was years' worth of stuff on there.

Had a lot of bother logging in using Firefox, which has been slow particularly with PCFF for months. But still slow, with whole new forum. Maybe it's the not-https thing that's bothering it.

It's https now
I was modding the user reg process in the main Admin account and I think someone else was using it, so it dropped the certificate and I had to renew it.

Added a new theme 'Broken' you can select in your profile settings.

I think it is broken, since the Reply function is at the top of the page.  ;D

Default font size if I recall on this means modifying the CSS and it throws everything out of whack, so CTRL+Scroll is the way forward.  ;)

Interesting. Surface O Lite is quite good. But we'll see. Broken was okay too.

Sunrise is good on a larger monitor, you can switch between day and night mode as well.

Just installed reCaptcha to simplify the registration process and hopefully weed out the spam accounts that I've already had to prune.

How do they know a new forum has gone up so quickly?

I suspect they have checked out the old one and found this instead. It is odd though. Maybe they get lists handed to them to try by bots that trawl constantly.

You could be right.
I had to put a redirect in place to steer visitors to the correct directory (the old site was in pc-forums.co.uk/phpbb/), so the old spambots will get redirected as well.

reCaptcha is a Google Authentication thing, the 'I am not a robot' check box you see on a lot of sites, so fingers crossed it's effective.  :)

No dodgy signups all day.  8)

Some of them will turn up sooner or later. The forum is certainly faster than it was.

It's a lot cleverer than just a wee check box: http://qnimate.com/how-does-googles-no-captcha-recaptcha-work/  8)

I'd read that before. Very clever. Proves how un-AI bot are compared to the way we work.

We did get one a couple of hours ago, but it must have been a manual sign up.
It's easy to prune the dafties out on this board as well.

Cool. ^

-
I've noticed an increasing number of people using the term 'get-go'. Why? I hate it. It means nothing other than 'beginning'. It isn't cool or smart. It isn't hipster or anything other than an 'annoyism'. There. It's made me invent a term for it. 'Get-go' is like people who begin sentences with 'So...' I hate that too.
