Thank goodness the router isn’t going to be inside my room

The engineer says the cable inside my room is a data cable, which I don’t get

Stable internet connected and running

Talking of flu, we went to a wedding party on Saturday and since kissing absolutely everybody is more or less compulsory here, I'm sure I picked up a flu bug. By Sunday evening I was cold and sweating, woke up in pools of sweat three mornings in a row and found that the only remedy was sleep itself. Pills just dampen down the symptoms, so I've just stuck to the odd aspirin for the headaches.
Fortunately I haven't been completely immobilised. so on a flu scale of 10, I reckon it's been a 7.
Maybe I should avoid kissing beautiful Argentine women in future? I already avoid kissing men if I can and yes, that is a thing down here.

Mine wasn't a flu, just resfriado

Persistent and annoying, brother was forcing me to take paracetamols, which did fuck all

Maybe I was expecting too much to hope for the landlord to get the 300Mbps internet. At least it's better than 12Mbps at most and at least this won't have interference from other street users/traffic going past

If the other end of that data cable terminates near the new router, you could patch it into it and get a better connection.

Congrats to PC-Forums for the prestigious Forum of the Year Award!
I wish I could have been at the ceremony, but all the tickets were sold out apparently.

I think I may have found why the internet disconnects at times. It's the virus scanner. It also chokes the internet so I can't get a good YouTube stream

I have noticed an 18Mbps hike when I stopped my virus scanner, really have, it used to be 57ish-Mbps, when I did a speed test again, it went to 75 Mbps

I rationalised some of the media boards given all TV and Movies end up on some Streaming service these days.

While doing that I also realised that I'd forgotten to do something.  :embarrassed:
'member that 'Bad Cab' pic I posted in Photos?

I have six similar rooms full of network cabs in a similar state (tripes hingin oot) in a site I've been surveying over the last few days that I need to pick the bones out of in order to install new hardware, but just realised I'd forgotten to take any bloody pictures along with my notes on the fibre/ethernet cable runs

Anyone (except the cabling and install team) who look the pictures in the documentation are unlikely to know what they're looking at, but they just like to have them.
(The guys running the cables and installing the hardware don't really need pictures, just instructions on what needs to be done.)

What 'virus scanner' are you referring to?
If you're using Win 10 you've got Defender which is built in, negating any need for a third party anti-virus.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I've never heard of an anti-virus program throttling your Internet speed.

Windows Defender is okay, and improved over previous versions, both other scanners are better.

As long as you don't end up with Labyrinthitis(?) Richie.

I had that a couple of years ago and ended up so dizzy I spewed on the toilet wall while kneeling in front of the toilet:lipsrsealed:

My tinnitus woke me up this morning, it was so loud I thought something electrical was about to blow.
(It sounds like the whine the old camera flashes used to make when the capacitors charged.)

It can lead some into despair. Not nice.

Not so well myself. Maybe cystitis again. Not sure yet.
